On January 29th, Ascendix gave an extensive overview of the SmartClient which focuses on the biggest complaint between IT, management and brokers when it comes to Commercial Real Estate solutions.
How do we get a CRM solution that everyone will use? The truth is one solution will never fit everyone’s needs…especially in mid-size to large firms. And, by using the tools of today and the unique knowledge base of our past we realized that we had to create the SmartClient to bridge the gap that exists today.
The Start of the Project
The project that started us on this journey was the development of our customized iPhone and iPad applications for CRM.
The main issue that had to be addressed was that there was no keyboard so the physical tool that increases data input can’t be accounted for.
Therefore, we decided to play to these strengths and focus on search functionality and interactive graphics that are easy when engaging with a touchscreen.
The different use of the tool changed the principles in what we needed to design for our users.
Our initial release of our iPad & iPhone app had great feedback from brokers and those who must work out of the office on smartphones and tablets.

Clients started requesting the same user experience we provided on mobile tools for the desktop because of how easy it was to use.
#2 You Have a Choice
Another perk is that SmartClient gives individuals a choice within the framework of a larger organization.
There’s power in choice. Especially when it comes to the needs of the brokers vs. their admins. Admins can still have the extensive needs of a CRM to work on behalf of the broker. And the broker can quickly access information and research from anywhere on any device that is created by admins, junior brokers, and research teams.
SmartClient is not a replacement for CRM, but a tool to allow everyone the ability to consume or create information to enhance the data within CRM. Especially those who have been hesitant to utilized these options in the past.
We focused on 3 key components:
- Search – Other solutions have universal search, but it doesn’t work in the way brokers want. We have optimized search and made it very intuitive so you don’t have to search by exact names much like Google.
- Streamlined UI – We know that a great deal of features and functionality is not what every user wants or needs. Therefore, we have intentionally left out some items to keep the design streamlined and serve its primary purpose.
- Speed – We have spent more time than any other CRM for CRE provider working with large organizations that have big data so we had to make the optimization of speed a priority. No matter your data size, you won’t experience any lag time when working within Ascendix solutions.
